elemental plane of air

The Elemental Plane of Air, according to the history of D&D, across every edition, is an endless expanse of breathable gases and vapors that we, as humans, call Air. I want to at least try and make it half-logical. So let's just make up whatever we want, shall we? Argh, it's so hard for me to accept that. Even trying to think about how life in the ball of fire of the Elemental Plane of Fire could possibly exist or how anything moves in the infinite mass of the Plane of Earth, or anything that has anything to do with logical thinking is a pointless wank. I've never been happy with "because magic/D&D/DM-said-so" kinds of explanations.īut in the case of the Planes, all that comfort is out the window. I want some form of sanity for my own thinking to latch onto, I suppose. I'm a great proponent of trying to make things work in D&D within the bounds of science and engineering coupled with the versatility of magic. Science has no place in these thinkings, I want to tell myself. But we aren't here for history lesson, we are here to discuss planar geography. In fact the entirety of the Planes of Existence in the history of D&D is quite fascinating and contentious. I did a lot of research into this question before I wrote it down. What does the Elemental Plane of Air actually look like?
